Hi Linda, Sorry you`re in a lot of pain. Have you seen a podiatrist? I have awful trouble with my ankles, but the podiatrist made me some insoles and they have helped a great deal. He made plaster casts of both feet, and a couple of weeks later I had my insoles. I also was measured for a walking stick, which helps when things are bad. Take care, Kathleen x

Dear Linda, This is the bane of my life also! The rheumatoid has always affected my knees worse than anywhere else. I would take two painkillers if they are troubling you alot before you walk anywhere and in this weather you could try led warmers around the knees, as the extra warmth makes them snug and comfortable. I also rub Weleda arnica oil into both knees (and hip!) ; http://www.essentialslon...Il4fkpJ8CFVtn4wodyD8pIw
Not only is it lovely, it smells divine too! If the walking is so severe that you need the aid of crutches which I hope so much you don't, there is a special site for crutches for people with rheumatoid and they even come in different and fun colours (mine are blue). My friend taught me how to walk properly with them and it is very helpful when you need them. Much love, Amanda

Thank you everyone for you kind support. I have seen my GP and she has increased my tablets now. I really hope that this will keep me walking without being in raging pain. I'm also walking less . Now using public transport where i used to walk before. It is all very sad but better than crutches or even a wheelchair. My RA is definitely worse in my lower limbs although my fingers and wrists can give me a lots of pain there too. I find the most delibilitating areas are definitely the knees and the fingers. That's my personal experience. If higher dose of tablets dont do the trick, my GP is thinking of sending me back to Rheumy which would normally be due in early March. A few days will tell whether the higher dosage of tablets are working. Thanks again everyone for your support Linda xx

Hi Linda,
I too love walking and used to go on walking holidays, however, I've not been able to do this since being diagnosed with RA last year. I think it's fantastic that up until now you have been able to enjoy walking, and do hope that taking a higher dose helps gets you out of pain and enjoying walking again.
Love,
Barbara XXXXXX

Hi Linda My knees and ankles/ heels have been really playing up the last 2 weeks- they have been so bad the last 2 days I haven't been into work as I'm strugglng with stairs. Usually my knees are hit the hardest- this is the first time I've had problems with my feet. I've been taking diclofenac 3 times a day and topping up with paracetmol at night, which has helped.I like to keep diclofenac to a minimum as much as possible so I only take it like this if things really get bad.
I hope it settles down for you soon.

So sorry to hear this Maria. Knees have always been the bane of my life too.
Devil's claw gel is also quite nice to rub into them but very temporary and the tens machine, which you can buy from Boots.
Much love, Amanda

Hope the oils help in some small way. I keep three by my bed- the arnica one by Weleda, the Devil's claw and this one; http://www.culpeper.co.u...catalog/Arnica-Oil.html
Actually it is not exactly this one, it is a combination one for aching joints. There is also a bath oil which is soothing.. Much love, Amanda

Hello, I'm beat. I went to work yesterday but ended in tears and having my boss giving me a lift home :-( My GP advised to go back to see Rheumy doc and been lucky, i have an appointment next tuesday. I'm off work now and i will not go back until i can walk without being in distressing pain. My Rheumy secretary will ring tomorrow to let me know if I can increased my anti-inflammatory. What a carry on !!! Knowing how things have been so far, i'm going to be housebound a few days before i can walk outside again. I have a tens machine and will give it a go this evening. Linda
